Jesus gave us the sacrament of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Jesus told His disciples to “Do this in memory of me”. Each time we celebrate the Eucharist we do what Jesus did at the Last Supper. Eucharist is a Sacrament of Initiation in which we share in the Paschal Mystery of Christ. We receive the Body and Blood of Christ and we are joined most fully to Christ and to the Church, the Body of Christ.
An adult who has been baptized in the Catholic faith and wishes to receive the Eucharist needs to go through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) process to prepare to celebrate the sacrament.
Preparing to celebrate Eucharist for the first time is an important time in the spiritual life of your child. This preparation process begins with providing your child with sufficient religious instruction that will enable them to be properly prepared to receive Eucharist for the first time.
St. John’s provides a complete program to prepare you and your child for this important step in their faith journey. Your child must be seven years old and have received two years of religious education in order to receive the sacrament of Eucharist.
