About our Parish Family
The parish family of St. John the Evangelist is Christ-centered, welcoming, generous and dedicated. The cornerstone on our church reads, “The Blessings we receive are to be used for the Glory of God.” We believe all that we have comes from God and that we should use our gifts to help others as Christ did. Our parish family gladly welcomes visitors and new members and invites them to become a part of our community. We are generous in sharing our time and talents to serve God and one another. We dedicate ourselves to furthering the Kingdom of God here on Earth.

Mission Statement
We, the people of St. John the Evangelist, pledge to follow the example of Jesus, our Lord, by always being charitable, compassionate, merciful, and loving, each day of our lives.

Goals for 2011
  1. To expand our commitment to Jesus as the focal point of our parish.
  2. To recommit to the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  3. To revitalize and renew our school with a dynamic, new commitment.
  4. To become an even greater influence in our local community by raising our awareness in Streamwood.
Pastoral Services

Ministry of Care to the Sick Ministry of Care brings the Eucharist to the sick, homebound, Lexington Health Care Center, Alden Poplar Creek Center, and Claremont. Please contact the Parish Office to arrange for a minister to bring Eucharist to the homebound or hospitalized.

Parish Van Every Sunday our van is available to chauffeur our seniors and other members of the parish who may be in need transportation to and from the 9:00am Mass. Pickup is between 8:00 and 8:30am. Please contact the Parish Office by Friday 4:00pm if you need a ride.

Interpreter There is a sign language interpreter at the 9:00 Sunday Mass for those who are hearing impaired.

Handicapped Accessible Reserved seating is provided for persons with disabilities in the front of the church. Our sanctuary was designed so that all parishioners may participate in liturgical ministries. A wheelchair ramp behind the altar and a movable ambo allow parishioners with disabilities to participate as Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.

AED Our church is equipped with an AED device (commonly known as a defibrillator) provided by the Knights of Columbus. Many of our Ushers have been trained to use the device and provide CPR. Our Nurses Ministry provides a nurse at each Mass to help parishioners who become ill.

Funerals Please make initial arrangements through the Funeral Director. A member of St. John’s Bereavement Ministry will be available to help you finalize arrangements for the funeral liturgy.
